Henagon

The Henagon most resemble winged dinosaurs, with small hands half way along their wings and scaly forked tails. They stand on all fours, and measure 6’ from head to tail, but only around 4' with the tail excluded. Poor flyers, they glide on their large wings, rather than flapping them like bat or bird. Instead, they soar, often for great distances, more like a seabird.

Culturally, they tend to value covert action and individual honour more than any other peoples. The duel in the morning, and silent dagger in the night. They're also generally considered by the other races to be aristocratic to a T.

Shorter-lived than most species, with an adult considered old at 50. This, combined with their physical structure and general isolation until recently may go some way to explaining why they're the least technologically developed of the major nations.

The first of the races to be regularly interacted with by creatures of the Golden Plane.

Conquered the Lurniage around 5 millennia ago. The Lurniage were then in servitude from that time until 15 years ago.

Society

With the deposition and exile of the Taurac king and queen, the Henagon survive as the last remaining absolute monarchy of modern times. Traditionally the line of succession passes down through the heirs’ female, but it has happened in times of old that it has been a son who has inherited the throne. This is of particular concern at the moment, as the current king and queen Mamemae and Helosae have no heirs, and the line of succession will have to be determined going back several hundred years on their deaths, if there are no children between now and then.

The other interesting aside is how the monarchs have kept in power - over 4,500 years ago, the then queen solved a minor dispute through giving the two people involved minor titles, enabling them to duel without a resulting death being considered murder.

This method of solving disputes has gotten slightly out of hand over the intervening years, and now almost everyone in Athirael has a title of some kind. The order of ranking is as follows:
